Carpet WarrantyBuying carpet from a Dalton Carpet Wholesaler is no different than buying from a local carpet retailer in terms of warranty coverage. Most warrantees are offered by the carpet manufacturer, not the local carpet retailer, and the carpet manufacturer stands behind these
warrantees.
Should any first quality carpet we sell, fail to perform to your expectations, you carpet claim will be handled in the same manner in which a local retailer would address the issue. The carpet manufacturer would be notified, and either the local carpet manufacturers representative will make an inspection or the manufacturer may choose to dispatch an unbiased, third party carpet inspector to make a determination. Local retailers rarely become directly involved in carpet claims assessment. All carpet sold by Quality Discount Carpets are First Quality Production styles, unless you specifically request that we search for carpet irregulars. From time-to-time, we may purchase truckload quantities of discontinued carpet styles in order to provide you with additional cost savings, but these discontinued carpet styles carry a full manufacturer warranty and are certified first quality materials. All first-quality carpet we sell carries a five-year, ten-year, or 20 year wear warranty, as specified by the manufacturer, and we guarantee the carpet to be free from defects on any kind. We rarely (if ever) stock irregular quality carpet styles and we only search for irregular quality carpet styles at the direct request of the carpet buyer. Irregular quality carpet styles carry an "as is" warranty from the manufacturer. While few carpets (first quality or irregular) ever fail to perform according to the manufacturers published warranty, all manufacturers choose not to warranty products sold as irregular. Also, while most irregular carpet styles may carry the same carpet stain treatments as first quality carpet styles, these warrantees are withheld from irregular quality carpet styles. In buying irregular quality carpet you must establish whether cost savings are worth the added risk. Often times, consumers can buy first quality carpet through Quality Discount Carpets at prices competitive to irregular quality carpet from other carpet wholesalers. In addition, in buying irregular quality carpet, you should buy additional square yards, in order to "work around" defects. This adds to the overall cost of irregular goods and can substantially reduce cost savings. Carpet Wear WarrantyAll carpet with synthetic fiber carry a wear warranty. However, we discourage you from purchasing a carpet based on the length of this warranty. The term "wear" means different things to different people, but to the carpet manufacturer, wear means the wearing away of the pile fiber. In 32 years, we have never seen a single incident of this occurrence. Wear warrantees originated when nylon was replacing wool fiber as the fiber of choice for carpet. Wool carpets would actually wear away and bald spots could appear in areas of the carpet. Nylon is extremely abrasion resistant and will not wear away. While some synthetic carpet styles may carry a 5-year, 10-year, or 20-year wear warranty, these warrantees typically distinguish between price points or product quality rather than actual "wear". Most synthetic fiber carpet could be labeled with a "life-time" wear warranty and each would outlast this warranty based on the definitions of the warranty. Carpet Stain WarrantyNo carpet is stain-proof! Even olefin fibers, which resist most common household stains can be stained by oily spills. Stains warrantees originated in 1986 when StainMaster® was first introduced, but even Stainmaster® carpet will stain. Stain warrantees cover specific types of stains which use acid-based dyes. Kool-Aid®, for example, was one of the worst offenders, because it contained red acid dyes- the same type of dye used to dye carpet. Many common foods and beverages contain these types of dyes. Many of these warrantees require that the carpet owner hire a professionally carpet cleaner to attempt to remove the stain. In most cases, the consumer could accomplish the same result with a little patience. If the stain can be removed by a professional, you pay the cleaning bill. If not, the fiber producer may replace the carpet or the affected area. |
