Wholesale Carpet

What is the primary difference between a Dalton, GA Carpet Wholesaler and a local retailer?  Carpet prices, of course.

Your local carpet retailer has a manufacturers representative that services the local retailer.  This representative sells carpet to your local retailer on commission.  The higher the price that the representative sells carpet to the retailer, the higher the commission s/he earns.  This commission increases (as a percent) as carpet prices increase.  For example, aQuality Discount Carpet sells wholesale carpet. carpet that sells to the retailer at $10 per yard may earn a 1% commission, while if the representative sells the carpet at $11, s/he earn 2%; $12 earns 3% and so on.

The $10 carpet may retail at $16; whereas the same carpet style sold to the retailer at $12 would sell at $20 using the same carpet retail mark-up.  The $10 carpet price is typically reserved only for the largest carpet retailers, but large carpet retailers understand that other smaller retailers pay a higher price (based on volume), so rather than sell the $10 carpet style at $16, the larger retailer sells the style at $18-20.  This is the way they become "large retailers".

At Quality Discount Carpets, a Dalton carpet wholesaler, we work on volume, and in some cases we sell carpet to your own local retailer at cheap carpet prices.  Often, these prices are lower than the local carpet manufacturer representative sells carpet direct to the retailer.

Also, your local carpet retailer generally has higher over-head expenses than a Dalton Carpet Wholesaler.  We own our showroom Quality Discount carpet is a dalton, GA Discount carpet Wholesaler.and warehouse; whereas most retailers lease space from a property owner.  In some cases, the carpet retail store owner may own the building, but leases the space back to the carpet business in order to protect the building from credit liens and to earn additional profit.

For these carpet retailers the first 22% of the mark-up you pay, goes directly to overhead expenses and does not earn a profit for the retailer.  They typically profit only from the amount charged above the 22% mark-up.

At Quality Discount Carpet, we have been in business since 1974 and we own our facility.  We "grew up" in the carpet industry and we understand the costs of carpet production.  We buy directly from the carpet manufacturer, based here in Dalton, GA, and we assist the manufacturer in liquidating "excess" inventory, discontinued carpet styles, and other overstocks.  In assisting the manufacturer, and in understanding true carpet cost, we typically buy carpet at production cost rather than production cost, plus overhead, plus representative commission.
